Wig care for different wig types

1. Synthetic Wigs:

• Daily Care:
  • Gently brush or comb the wig with a wig brush or wide-toothed comb to remove tangles and prevent matting.
  • Shake the wig to restore its shape and style.
• Washing:
  • Use a wig-specific shampoo and conditioner. Do not use regular hair care products as they can damage synthetic fibers.
  • Fill a basin with cool water and add the recommended amount of wig shampoo. Immerse the wig and gently agitate the water to create suds.
  • Soak the wig for a few minutes, then rinse it thoroughly with cool water.
  • Gently blot excess water with a towel (do not rub or wring).
  • Place the wig on a wig stand or mannequin head to air dry. Do not use heat sources like hair dryers on synthetic wigs, as they can melt the fibers.
  • Once dry, you can lightly style the wig with a wide-toothed comb or wig brush.
• Styling:
  • Avoid using heat styling tools on synthetic wigs, as the fibers are not heat-resistant. If you want to change the style, use steam or other alternative methods recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Use wig-specific styling products like hairspray or mousse to maintain the desired look.
• Storage:
  • Store synthetic wigs on a wig stand or in a breathable storage bag or box away from direct sunlight, heat, and dust.

2. Human Hair Wigs:

• Daily Care:
  • Gently brush or comb the wig with a wig brush or wide-toothed comb to prevent tangling.
  • Style as desired using heat styling tools, but use them at a low to medium heat setting to avoid damage.
• Washing:
  • Wash human hair wigs every 7-10 wears, or as needed.
  • Use a sulfate-free, wig-specific shampoo and conditioner.
  • Fill a basin with lukewarm water and add a small amount of shampoo. Immerse the wig and gently agitate the water to create suds.
  • Soak the wig for a few minutes, then rinse it thoroughly with lukewarm water.
  • Apply conditioner to the mid-lengths and ends of the hair, avoiding the roots.
  • Rinse the conditioner thoroughly and gently blot excess water with a towel.
  • Place the wig on a wig stand or mannequin head to air dry. You can use heat styling tools once the wig is dry.

• Blend wigs should be cared for following the guidelines for the predominant hair type. For example, if the blend is mostly synthetic, follow the care routine for synthetic wigs, but be cautious when using heat styling tools on the human hair portion.
